A Gift for Young and Old Alike, Bonsai Trees! Friday, October 31st, 2008

When it comes to giving a gift, there is always that question of what is the best for this year?

If you are like me, you want to give something that is different, fun, pretty, useful and of quality. And it has to fit within a reasonable budget.

This year, for whatever occasion you are giving a present, consider the living gift of a bonsai tree. Bonsai trees are regular trees (and shrubs) that have been trained to grow at a miniature size. While there are traditional trees such as junipers and cedars that are typically turned into bonsai trees, almost any plant can be grown at a reduced size. Including many trees that produce spectacular flowers and even fruit.

So what makes a bonsai tree such a special gift? Of course, their beauty is one special quality. And it is a beauty that will change overtme as the bonsai tree grows and changes. There is an almost mystical tradition behind bonsai trees which hearkens to the mysterious Orient.

There is the challenge to maintaining a bonsai tree. While keeping most bonsai trees alive and thriving is relatively easy. To help structure its future growth means the recipient of a bonsai tree will want to learn a whole new body of knowledge. And, finally, a bonsai tree can last a lifetime or longer.

Who is a good candidate for receiving a bonsai tree as a gift? Anyone who is old enough to be responsible for caring for a plant. I remember giving a bonsai tree to a nephew a few years ago. I was there on Christmas when he opened up the box I had wrapped the night before. And, I admit, it was not the gift he was most excited over. But over the years, he cared for the bonsai and created a special replationship with the tree. It was one of the few things he took with him, when he went to college… More adult people will immediately recognize how special a bonsai tree is.

So put the bonsai tree on your list of potential gifts this year. It is truly a gift that can surprise and delight as well as last a lifetime.

What kind of bonsai tree are available? Visit my bonsai tree site at Bonsaitreesite.com, to find out.

How To Fight a Speeding Ticket Advice Friday, October 31st, 2008

Nothing can interrupt your driving excitement like a traffic ticket. Since I love to drive…fast that is, the general problem with it is called speeding tickets. I hate speeding tickets! That’s why I pay much attention to fighting speeding tickets.

I got a speeding ticket once off the Oregon Coast for going 65 in a 30mph zone. Unfair I tell you. I am not the only person who has gotten one of those “infractions” for speed limit signs that are unfairly posted; such was the case on a road trip with my friend a while back. You need some knowledge on fight speeding tickets to handle this.

Obviously this did not matter to the cop who pulled me over. I cannot even begin to tell you how annoyed I get too when they ask why they pulled you over. I think they get enjoyment out of asking that stupid little phrase. Apparently they have to ask you this to get you to confess to your “crime.” It is not a crime! If you weren’t meant to speed then why do they make cars that go faster than the average speed limit? I tell you it is a government conspiracy! They force you to learn how to speeding ticket.

You know what else I hate about speeding tickets? Contesting them; not only does it take time out of your day it is usually at the most inconvenient time like during work hours. How much sense does it make? It is like a double whammy because your $100.00 ticket has now turned into a $200.00 ticket because you missed a day of work. We gotta stick it to the man and fight speeding tickets!

True story; I got off with a warning for going 90mph in a 30mph zone, passing on a double yellow in front of on coming traffic, which just so happened to be a green cop car, in a car registered in California, a drivers license issued in Washington and insurance in Arizona. I suppose if you are women and are lucky enough to get pulled over by a man, your have a better chance of getting just a warning then an actual ticket.

Now I would like to say that I got off with a warning because I was all jazzed up that day, but I would have to say for all those offenses which were pretty obvious, that I got off because he could not prove that I was speeding. I mean, he did not have radar so he could not have been able to pace me and there were no air cops either so he really did not have anything for his defense.

Thank goodness I got lucky that time, but other times, I have been not so lucky. Anyways I found this book on contesting speeding tickets; which is really good because now I know that bikinis will not really get you out of a ticket and now I know how to get my traffic tickets reduced if not completely thrown out!

This defiantly beats the alternative called driving school which inevitably reduces you to ranks of elementary understandings of the color yellow meaning caution. My driving record is not exactly clean and my insurance is costing me a fortune so let me put it to you this way. I have trouble obeying the laws when it comes to my enjoyment.

Obviously to avoid speeding tickets you probably should not speed, but 1. I cannot stand being behind some old man with an oxygen tank in the back of his car; and 2. Most speed limits are too slow. I got a speeding ticket in an alley once for going 10 mph. Gimmi a break! My Grandma can walk faster than that.

Anyways, there are ways to beat traffic tickets. You just need to know where to find them and what your best line of defense is when it comes to contesting the infamous speeding ticket.

Home Security Tips Thursday, October 30th, 2008

Here’s a few tips for making your home more secure.

1) Lighting is your best and cheapest defence against burglaries. If a burglar can be seen it’s much more risky for them to target your house. Neighbours and passerbys could potentially see them and notify the police. Use an energy efficient compact fluorescent bulb in your front and rear porch light and leave them on all nite. You can automate this by connecting them to a timer or photocell.

2) Make sure your house is not hidden from view. At least make sure that your front door can be seen from the street. Clear away overgrown shrubbery from the front of your house. Don’t give potential burglars anything that they can use to conceal their activities.

3) Install motion sensors to light up the dark areas of your property. There’s nothing more startling to someone approaching your home to be suddenly bathed in light. Motion sensors are very cheap and can be installed easily in existing or new light outlets. They can be set to stay on for a set period of time when triggered by motion.

4) When you go on vacation, connect some lamps in your home to plugin timers. Some timers allow you to set multiple on/off events every 24 hours. Do this with 2 or 3 lamps to give the impression that someone is home in the evenings. This is especially important if someone is watching your house to determine if anybody is home. Ask your neighbour to pickup mail and newspapers every day. There’s nothing like a pile of newspapers on your front porch to tip off a burglar that you’re away.

5) Install dead bolt locks on all your doors. This is a fairly inexpensive way to secure your home. Deadbolts cannot be picked as easily as regular door locks. This is something the average homeowner can install with a minimum of tools.

Your best defence is to make sure that it appears that someone is always home, even when you’re not. For even more security consider installing a burglar alarm in your home.

AEG and Bosch Washing Machines - Two Makes Worth Purchasing? Thursday, October 30th, 2008

Unless you like to visit the cleaners each couple of days then a automatic washer is an important appliance for the home. Washing laundry in the sink was once the manner most homeowners cleaned their clothes, but when the washing machine arrived, the lengthy task was eradicated.

Nowadays, the washing machine has developed to get really modern at what it does. It is competent to wash clothing at changing heats, different materials, and can as well run with advanced sensory engineering. The popularity of the washer has as well led to a wide number of names incoming to the market place, including Whirlpool, Maytag, AEG, Bosch and many more.

One of the very best-selling names is the Bosch washer. Their ranges of washing machines are efficient, well-priced, reliable, and include features that numerous more expensive automatic washers possess. One of the original examples of Bosch washing machines that won over a lot of customers is the Bosch Maxx IT (WFR 2860). This model represented the brand against large brands such as LG, GE, and Whirlpool. One of the causes the Bosch brand was (and still is) so well supported is because of the value-for-money price tag.

These days, Bosch has many models that possess outstanding features and are stable for the heavy duty user. Their line of washing machines are available in almost all top retail stores both offline and online. Although you may discover the Bosch line of washers not nearly as high-priced as some other names, you do not need to concern about performance as they are definitely one of the most reliable names in the industry.

Another top brand is AEG. The range of AEG washer models are spectacular in terms of technology and features, and are low-cost when likened with larger brands. The Lavamat L76669 is just one of AEG’s best-selling models and attains ‘A’ ratings for both wash energy rating and spin drying energy. This model has a classic look that can fit in to almost any interior design. AEG washers have outstanding build-quality and performance.

The washer industry is a great one and caters to numerous top makes. AEG and Bosch are just two makes that you might wish to consider if you need a new high-quality washing machine for the home. By looking online you can be certain that you are finding the greatest deal, as online retailers can often out-price their offline rivals. Furthermore, numerous makes have consumer reviews to help choose which washing machine online, so take a search before you purchase.

Finding The Top Rated Vacuum Cleaner Thursday, October 30th, 2008

If you have been shopping for a vacuum cleaner and want a model that satisfies your weekly cleaning needs then it is typically smart to buy one that’s positively rated like a Bissell vacuum cleaner. Sure you could go by the recommendations of friends but doing the research yourself can be time consuming.

Since lots of people won’t put much thought into purchasing a vacuum cleaner they typically get about three years of use out of it and then they just throw it away and go buy a new one. Determining which one is the best vacuum cleaner is not a simple job.

Perform Some Research

When you shop for a new vacuum it’s recommended to research what is currently available. It’s proven that most people do not research vacuums but if you want to purchase one that comes with all the features you will need it cannot hurt to prepare. Vacuums that cost a lot may not necessarily be right for your house.

Try Before You Spend Your Money

Some stores that only sell vacuum cleaners might have display models that you can use but they usually are more pricy. The salesman usually has more experience with certain brands and models but likely works off of a commission. If you can try without buying it is always recommended.

Read Reviews From Top Websites

You can also search online for vacuum cleaner reviews from companies that are best rated. It should give you better information about the specific model. Customers are usually pretty honest regarding vacuums so you can hopefully trust somebody who has used the product and wants to give a review, bad or good.

HEPA Filters Are Crucial

Since many people have allergies alot of today’s vacuum cleaners are offering top notch filtration systems. If you have a dog or cat you don’t want to move their dander back into your home air. You’ll want to look for a cleaner that has a HEPA filter as it possesses the best way to keep your house free from allergens.

What is CD DVD Duplication Thursday, October 30th, 2008

You may have heard people talk about CD duplication. Most people assume that it just means copying a DVD. However, it’s the literal duplication of optical media - generally the production of a small number of DVDs from existing master copies onto recordable discs. This is common among musicians, software companies, and other groups that need to have a number of copies of their discs made.

If you’re a business that needs to have DVDs copied, or just have a personal project involving DVD duplication, you don’t have to do it yourself. Companies exist to do this job for you. When you go looking for a service to help you, chances are that you’ll be asked what sort of disc you’ll need. Not all DVDs are the same, after all. The DVDs used in small orders are different from those used in larger duplication batches.

Unlike tape duplication, copying DVDs doesn’t cause the quality of the copies to degrade. Since DVDs simply store data, and there’s no damage to that data in transfer, there’s actually very little difference between the original and the copy. It’s more like moving files on your computer than copying a tape. However, DVD duplication can’t make the copy any better than the original data you provide. There are some mistakes that can be made, which can hurt the quality of your copied DVDs. The best way to avoid these is to make sure you’re working with a quality DVD duplication company. Beware of offers that seem too cheap to be real. Chances are, shortcuts are being taken, which can hurt your end product.

If you need to produce copies of a music or multimedia disc, marketing and business materials, or just a personal project, DVD duplication could be helpful. However, whether or not you’ll need to pay an outside company for this service depends on the quantity of discs you want. If you require only a few, you can do the job yourself, using a quality DVD burner. If you’ll need more than that, paying for DVD duplication by a professional takes the hassle out of your hands.

Talk to the representative of any DVD duplicator company you’re thinking of working with to decide what options will produce the best quality DVDs for your project in the most efficient way. That way, you’ll be able to balance concerns about cost with those about quality, and get the best DVDs for your needs.

Easy Sensible Weight Loss Thursday, October 30th, 2008

Weight loss
is not an easy thing to accomplish but can be done. Since my daughter was born fifteen months ago, I have lost a little over sixty pounds. The two most important factors in weight loss are eating less and moving more. The main thing to keep in mind while working toward losing weight is to maintain a healthy lifestyle and to try not to lose weight drastically. If you stick with your new eating and exercise habits then your weight
loss goals should be happily met.

The first thing to think about when working toward losing weight is to eat less. The average diet consists of about two thousand calories per day. While trying to lose weight, you can go as low as one thousand two hundred calories per day and still maintain a healthy lifestyle. Also, you have to remember to eat the right kinds of foods. Chow down on the fresh fruits and vegetables. Try to stay away from anything with sugar, and anything that is fried. When cooking, use the no-calorie spray butter instead of the real thing.

Switch to skim milk instead of whole milk. Also, at the beginning of the week, make out a healthy menu for the week and go by the menu when making your grocery list; this way, you will not buy things you will not need to be eating, plus it saves you money. Stick with the portion sizes listed on the food packages as well. When first starting to eat the right size portions, it may not seem like much food, but it is plenty to keep your body satisfied and healthy.

The second half to weight loss is to start moving more. It is recommended to at least walk briskly for about thirty minutes each day. If you have kids, you know this is not a problem. Take the dog for a walk a couple times a day; if not for yourself, for the dog because they need exercise too. Get together with a few friends from the neighborhood
and share the local gossip as you take a walk around the block a few times. Take a few laps around the backyard. Going shopping counts too! Pushing a fully-loaded cart around inside the grocery store is crazy good exercise. You not only get lots of walking time in, you give your arms a workout too by
pushing and turning that heavy grocery cart.

Another thing to remember where weight loss is concerned is to lose weight in a healthy way. The most healthy weight loss occurs when only two to three pounds are lost each week. This may not seem like much but it is important to keep your body healthy and not traumatize it by losing fifty pounds overnight. You may lose up to five pounds the first week or two and that is alright because you have made drastic changes to your diet and exercise habits; but after the first two weeks try to stick with two to three pounds per week.

Another option you may want to consider is a good weight loss pill. If you go this route, just remember that there is no such thing as a miracle pill. You will have to watch your diet as well. But weight loss pills can help.

Always consult a physician before taking any supplement or starting a new diet and exercise program.

Nursing ? A career You Can Advance In Thursday, October 30th, 2008

If you read the newspaper or watch the news you are likely familiar with the fact that nurses are in demand due to a shortage in the nursing field. Some of the main reasons are because the general population is getting older. Why does that matter? Basically because as people age they will need more medical care. Since a sign cant number of people are aging then it can be expected that more demand will continue to be put on medical facilities.

What you may not realize is that there is a lot more to a nursing career then being an RN. When most people think about nurses they think about going to the doctor or going to a hospital and the registered nurse being one of the people they see to help care for them. There are other nursing careers to consider though.

For example many people wish to enter the field of nursing as quick as possible so take the classes needed to become a licensed practical nurse (LPN). Later in their career they then return to college to take an lpn to rn program in order to advance their career. What this does is allows them to earn their bachelors in nursing degree and become a registered nurse.

Other nurses who already have their RN may later in their career decide to change careers some and no longer wish to continue working with patients. So what options are available to them? Theses nurses have many options such as entering the legal nurse consulting field. More options are also available so keep that in mind if you plan to enter the medical field.

Five Ways to Invest in Real Estate Wednesday, October 29th, 2008

Real Estate Investing is one of the most popular of the many ways to amass great wealth in the world today. Certainly, one of the reasons for this popularity is its ease of entry. Rags to riches stories abound about the successes in the lucrative yet risky field of real estate investing. And it does make for an interesting study, as there are many possible combinations of paths to success. For an investor willing to commit some time to studying the market segments, and the various risks and rewards, real estate can truly turn out to be a route to wealth accumulation. What follows are five approaches to real estate investment.

Rental Income Property. Real property values, for the most part, have more stable growth than other common investment vehicles which may have frequent if not large swings in their underlying values. The problem is that far too few people can actually afford to hold and maintain multiple properties over an extended and indefinite period of time while waiting for the value to rise. Many property investors manage to overcome this by renting the properties to tenants during the time when the property values are rising. This allows the tenants to essentially cover the note on the property and makes the venture a little less risky though there are risks involved when dealing with tenants. Things like failure to make rent payments, damage to the property, and potential legal costs make finding good tenants into the make or break issue.

Investing Prior to Construction
. This is a highly speculative and very risky sort of property investment that has booms and busts. Many investors recently discovered exactly how risky this endeavor actually was with the bursting of the property value ‘bubble’. The risks involved in this type of investment should not cover up the fact that many millionaires have been created through pre-construction investing and many more will be created in the future. Pre-build investing, just as its name implies is a type of investment in which investors purchase ‘options’ on the property before ground is broken. This is very popular in high demand areas that are known to experience housing shortages as prices often rise quickly and the units are often sold before they are completed and any ‘real’ money exchanges hands.

Flipping Properties. This is a type of property investment that has grown by leaps and bounds in the recent past thanks to the large audiences for the many popular home improvement and house flipping shows on cable networks in the last few years. More and more people have decided to pursue this sort of investment in hopes of creating big profits in a short amount of time and with minimal investment. Of course the problem is that it always looks much easier on television than it is in real life. Couple this with the fact that many people have unrealistic expectations when it comes to costs and ability and there are plenty of other risks involved with this type of investment as well. For those who are successful however, there is the potential for great profit in a relatively short amount of time as these televisions shows indicate.

The Buy-and-Hold Approach. As mentioned above, real estate has been tending  to gain value over time. Even if the buildings are in desperate need of TLC and repair the very land they are standing on is more often than not gaining value as the years pass by. Purchasing large lots of land or even several houses and holding on to them for as long as possible before selling can often fund college educations for children, pay for weddings, or greatly supplement retirement funds. The longer these properties are held the better in most cases as this provides the greatest opportunity for the value of the property to increase.

The Lease Option. There are few people in this world who never experience rough spots financially. Many of these people are denied traditional home loans because of their inability to cover debts properly in the past. For this reason they are often willing to pay for the privilege of rebuilding their credit while working towards a path of home ownership. For these people, a lease option presents a workable and often valued solution. Those investors who are willing to take the risks often find the rewards are well worth those risks.

These are some of the most common ways that real estate investors are involved in this market. With the population growing and aging, there is a growing demand for housing. On the supply side, there is a limited amount land on which it is feasible to build and live.  There are other investment opportunities that exist for those who are interested in real estate for an investment avenue, including the increasingly popular Real Estate Auctions. There are commercial real estate opportunities that have the potential to bring in big profits as well as the development and planning of housing communities as well. Needless to say real estate investing offers many opportunities to the savvy investor.
